Q:
What is a ZIP file?
Q: Why should I use ZIP files?
A: 1) Using ZIP files saves
hard disk space. If you have important files that you need to keep
but which require a lot of disk space, you can archive them in a ZIP file
which requires less space than the original files. 2) Using ZIP files
reduces download times. If you send files over the Internet, you can
reduce download time (and maybe connect time charges) by sending your files
in ZIP files instead of uncompressed. You can also transfer your AdMax
Disk simply and easily.
Q: What is one of the best uses of ZIP
files?
A: ZIP files are great for compressing
uncompressed graphics formats like BMP and TIFF. Depending on the image
that you compress, you may be able to reduce the file size up to 97%!!
Of course, if the graphic is already saved in a compressed format like
RLE or JPEG you may not be able to compress it any further.
Q: What do I need to use ZIP files?
A: There are two sides to this
question. 1) If you just want to extract files from ZIP files that other
people created you need a program that can unzip files, like the Winzip,
which lets you extract files from any ZIP file. 2) If you want to create
ZIP files you need a program like Winzip Windows, which creates
ZIP files and extracts files.
Q: What kind of file am I downloading
when I download AdMax from this web site?
A: You are downloading a special
kind of ZIP file called a self-extracting ZIP file. When you double click
on a self-extracting ZIP files it uncompresses the files that it contains
into the directory that you specify.
Q: If I download AdMax from this web
site how do I install it?
A: Run the self-extracting ZIP
file that you download. After the
files are extracted the setup program starts automatically.
Q: What happens during installation?
A: Installation consists of three
parts: 1) extracting the setup files, 2) running the setup program, and
3) copying the program files to the appropriate folders. All steps happen
automatically after running the self-extracting file that you downloaded.
We recommend that you extract the setup files to your c:\temp folder.
Q:
I can't remember where I saved the file that I downloaded. How do I find
it?
A: Go to
the "start" button, choose "find" and then "files or folders". In the dialog
box, type Admax* in the "named" text area. Then choose the find
now button. The system is now being searched. Please be patient, if the
system finds the file type specified it will list it in a windows below
the find dialog box. If you see the file Admaxnets or Admaxnets.exe
then double click it and proceed to step 4.
Q: Are Winzip products 100% PKZip compatible?
A: Yes. All WintZIP products are
100% PKZip compatible.
Q: I've been trying to download AdMax, but am experiencing problems.
