Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a local number for my home town?

There are over 880 cities covered with this service! Chances are that there is one in your town!

Is Emory the actual provider?

NO. Emory is only providing access instructions and software. All Internet access is provided by and is the responsibility of the physical provider. Emory is here to help you in any way we can.

What hours of the day can I access the service?

ALL OF THEM! 24 hours, 365 days a year.

Is there technical assistance if I have a problem?

There is excellent technical support, I have always spoken to a person with no voice mail.

What type of internet account is it, ie. SLIP, TCP/IP?

FULL INTERNET ACCESS (SLIP/PPP) Including FTP, Gopher, Telnet, WWW, DNS, IRC chat, Remote login, Finger, News, and Email.

Will I have a graphical interface?

The best. You can use any browser you want! We recommend the powerful and popular Netscape browser, or, Internet Explorer which comes with it.

Can I use Windows 95 dial-up scripting?

Absolutely!

How are email account names assigned and are there any charges for the amount of email sent or received?

Unlimited Email. Choose your own name at setup.

C'mon there has to be some limits?

UNLIMITED HOURLY USAGE!
If the service is abused and people connect and stay on-line all day, there may be length of session limitations and/or, perhaps, inactivity timeouts. But, still, what do you expect for this great value? Just dial back in and keep going. No extra charge.

Is there a guaranteed connection? Will I get a busy signal?

I haven't had a busy signal yet! Mileage may vary. There are over 30,000 modems and a modem ratio better than A*L (you know who).

What speed can we access the service at?

Up to 28.8K in many places, the 28.8K service will be everywhere in a couple months. But, it's unlimited access so who cares if it's a few seconds longer to get a file? ISDN is also available.

Is it possible to use third party software with this connection, ie. Netscape, Eudora?

MOST DEFINITELY!! We encourage it, and even provide some pointers where to get them.

Is there any free access time before I commit?

You don't need it! This is a prime Internet account. Free time was designed to help people try it out and see what it is all about before committing any resources. You are already using the net to view this. When someone actually makes productive use through those other type of systems they pay a fortune in per hour costs. Now you don't have to!

How do I pay?

When you first sign-on to our system you will be asked for a credit card or a checking account number. These will be charged every month for the service.

When do charges actually start?

The day you give your payment information.

What comes with my free software?

A program to automatically install in Windows. A dialer with TCP/IP stack to connect to the net. The Internet Explorer Web Browser. Everything you need to get going quickly. You can add whatever components you like later.

Can I give copies of the software to my friends?

Please do. We are banking on volume. In order to save you money it helps to spread the costs over more people. You will define your account information after you sign-on the first time, so there is no risk of someone seeing a password on a disk. Just make sure you and your friends use the code given with the software to insure these great prices! Or, give them copies of a disk with your sponsor information and you get the referral money!

Are there any setup fees, hourly charges, etc. besides the monthly fee?

There is a one time setup fee of $5.00. The setup fee will be added to your first month access fee! After that, your monthly access fee will be $19.95, everything is included. You even have the ability to be paid for refering others if you want.

TELL YOUR FRIENDS!!! They'll love you for it!
